Default Canyonlands?

Is that Canyonlands? An awesome place.
Very nice picture. Lightening up the shadowed area in the deep part of the canyon just a bit would help the photo.

That is an utterly beautiful place-- reminds me of reading Desert Solitaire!

I would suggest using a narrower aperture, around f/11, f/16 or higher. It will help keep all the elements of the landscape in sharper focus. f/3.5 is very wide and will not be able to have all close and far distances in focus.

Hope this helps. You have a very nice picture, the sky is not too bright or blown out which is sometimes hard to get.

Thanks for the input! I was using a wide aperture because it was getting pretty dark and I was thinking the more light the better? Wouldnt a narrow aperture have made the shot even darker? It was a hand held shot so I couldnt have a shutter speed much slower? Im still trying to figure it all out.
The shot was from Muley Point which is up on the Mesa above the Goose Necks State Park

Yes, if you didn't have a tripod then the only way to get that shot would have been to go with the wide aperture, which you did! If you had a tripod or could have set your camera on a rock or something then you would have been able to get the narrower aperture.
