Default reflctions

reflections 3

Camera: Olympus E-410
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 42 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV

This was fairly early in the morning very still and slightly hazy
The sky is a bit thin should I improve that? May be crop out more of the right of the picture to get rid of the jetty wall, I wonder if this would make a better composition.
Thanks. Douglas

Douglas - nice image but 2 thoughts and then croping:

1) the boat lift is ugly - is there another position you could take this shot from that is more face on to the Towarf building (ie moving further round to the right) - I suspect that if you could move 40-50 feet to the right the boat life would almost disappear into the hill behind.

2) looks like it was a relatively calm day but an exposure of 0.005 sec (1/200) is very quick to get really good reflections. I would drop the f/stop to the largest value and the iso to the lowest value you can and try this with a much longer exposure. You could also try an ND filter if you have one, to extend the exposure even longer.

As to cropping - a portrait crop of your 2787x2096 to 1689x1842, with the far wateredge at about 45% up and the left edge of the roof just in from the left side removes both the bulk of the sky, the boat lift and the sheet pile jetty wall, but this leaves the whole of the trees by the path and the bulk of the reflection in the shot. To my eye this makes the shot a little more dramatic.

Thanks for the comments.
I did try moving to the right to get rid of the boat lift, but lost the composition sloping to the right
Another time I will try your suggestions re.exposure etc..
