Hi grumpypop51,

Nice! This is a very interesting mountain and a great subject for a photo. I think that the composition is good; I really like the fence post in the foreground.

A couple of things that I think would make this image stronger... First, I think that I would like this image with a long horizontal, pano-style crop. The bottom third of the image is just brown grass and isn't so interesting. A long crop would really emphasis the fence post, the trees and the mountain.

Second, I noticed that the image was taken at about 1:30 pm. I think that this subject would be better served by shooting at dawn or dusk. Which one would be better would depend on the direction you are facing. If it is east then the dawn sky would have nice colors. If west than the sunset sky. If north, dawn would light up the face of the mountain with interesting side light. If south than the evening light would do the same.

Anyway, this is a great subject and one that I would like to photograph. I envy you having the opportunity.

KG

Thanks for that, I have just done another crop in panorama and you're correct, that looks much better. Am taking on board your other suggestion, the shot was taken in the moment as I was actually capturing something else that required very little thought or planning. Will re- visit this location again when the sun is in the west and lower on the horizon. Again, thanks for the constructive comments.
Regards, Ralph.
