Default that building at night..

Larger Version: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7...7dda13fdcb.jpg

Camera: Canon EOS 500D
Exposure: 30
Aperture: f/5.0
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Flash: Off, Did not fire

My first attempt to do some RAW and night photography I think i did a lot of mess here and the only thing I like is the sky and I feel that the composition here is really bad . Please feel to give your comments and criticism so I can do better next time

I like the lights on the building, but I think you should crop at least some of the bottom (in my opinion).

I like the composition, i like the sky and i like the lights at the building. I dont like the lack of detail in the shadows.

Croping its my first advice but it will not help a lot, but if you shoot raw may be you could do something to recuperate the detail with Adobe Camera Raw.

The sky and lit buildings are wonderful, nice colours and I do like the point of view.

There is however, as other have said, far too much area of pure black. While this can work in some images unfortunately it doesn't here. I would suggest a significant crop on the sides and bottom, and if you can recover even a little detail in the remaining black area.

On second thoughts, you could even crop a little of the sky - this is something you'll need to try and see what looks best.

Can you reshoot the location? It looks like it has a lot of potential.

Carl.

Thanks for your comments / opinions guys

the foureground doesn't really look good so I left it underexpesed but I think I went a little bit too much.. I will crop it next time.. I also tried to take a couple of shots today but the sky did not cooperate with me for having no clouds at all.
