Default Flowery Plant in the Garden

Hi,
Iam back with a series of snaps from my visit to a nearby hill station.iam here presenting my first shot of the garden with a plant with many flowers in the front ground and the garden in the BG. tell me about the composition and about any cropping?

Personally I'd crop this pic to get in close to the flower head and fill the frame.

I say this as I feel the patchy mud is distracting.

From a composition point of view - again get in closer. Also as you have taken this in what looks like the middle of the day the light has flattened the colour and contrast. You could try a diffuser or a bit of white sheet to take the edge of it, but now we are getting in to extra kit - which wasn't the question.

If you don't want the kit hassle, try earlier or later in the day and take try shooting across the flower to pick up the darker areas as well. This should give it a bit more depth.

I agree on getting closer.

I always shoot flowers right at sunset. This lighting with direct sun is just too harsh.

And are you sure this is f/3.3? The background is very 'in focus' at that level of aperture.
