Default Dinghy

Hi all,
This is my first picture here, I am trying to get a handle on why certain pictures jump out at me and appeal.
I have a well exposed photo the same with everything clear and the boat marginally flared, but it just does not appeal like this one?
This is straight out of my Kodak Z700 just resized and compressed.
I took a few shots at this angle at varying eposures knowing the boat would flare at the metered value.
exp 1/1000
aperture f5.7
iso 80
focal length 12mm

Dingy at Cornelian bay

edit: Hopefully the picture is now better quality. 3nd attempt.

I like this shot especially the way the boat is framed by the trees and buildings.

I might have zoomed in a bit, more focal on the boat and the reflection from the water, but I like this as well.

The framing is a good idea, but I am not sure that the gap in the trees is quite big enough for your subject. The branches at top are obscuring the mast a bit too much for my liking, and I think we are missing a little bit of the mast as well.

Quick suggestion for you -- I don't there is a rule prohibiting linking to photos, but as a lazy reviewer I can tell you that you will increase the likelihood that I (or people like me) will look at your photo if you embed it in your post. Not only did I have to follow a link, but when the Fotopic site opened it didn't get along too well with my browser and I had scrolling problems.

Thanks for the tips, I have now signed up for a Flickr account.
Getting closer could be problematical as the wife commented whilst I hung out over the small cliff "can't you find a hobby that isn't life threatening" never heard hobby photography described as that before.
