I believe it worked very well. Colors are amazing, and window silhouette gives the new depth to the image of the sky.
The only thing I would try is to correct the vertical lines with some lens distortion correction filter (since horizontal ones are skewed on purpose because of the angle) and see how that goes. Does not mean it would be better, but I would try to see. And, I must say, those bricks on the right side of the window are making this real. Without them it would seem too unreal (if the wall was just a straight vertical line, like on the left side), like photo manipulation of sorts. This way it really works for me, to see that tiny relief and reflection in the bottom of glass surface.

Very refreshing and colorful. However, I still wonder if the background would have possibly been a bit more sharper (personal opinion)

A couple things that might help make it better. First, I would ditch the circular polarizer. Polarizers work when you are 90 degrees to the sun. By default, a sunset is zero degrees so the polarizer is possibly hurting your image quality. They can act very unpredictable when looking directly at the sun.
Second, use a smaller aperture (f/8 to f/13 for starters) and your lowest possible ISO. These will give you the best image quality. Third, always use a tripod (don't know if you did or not..just a tip). Fourth. The angled lines from the window grills are a bit distracting. Might try doing it more symmetrical with straight lines or lines that become narrower at the top of the image for perspective. Having them just slightly angled down kind of makes your eye want to "fall off" the right side of the image. Nice concept! Hope that helps!
