Default opinions please

Hello,

I have recently started taking photographs more seriously, using the manual mode of my camera without any altering the images afterward. I am using a newly purchased Olympus EPL1 micro four thirds.

Thanks for your input,

Michael

Remember some things about composition. You want to keep the viewers eyes in the photo, and you want to evoke some emotion.

The first one leads you into the center of the photo, but lacks context other than it was a dock. There is no emotion to it. The other two don't keep the eye in the frame of the picture. The last one could have benefited from different framing, and different angles on the trees. It was centered for the large tree, and you can't see the roots or branches. It makes it like you've folded the photo in half, to focus on the other two trees. Had you been able to see the roots, and the centering been off a touch, it would have had a different feel.
