Hello all,
My first post here, so forgive me if I don't know the ways . It's actually the first photo I'll ever be sharing online. I've decided to try and do a picture a day kind of thing. It was raining out yesterday, (and for some reason I just like being out in the rain!) So I grabbed an umbrella and went out to take pictures of my Aunt's bridge. I'm very new to photography and post-processing, so I will take criticism well. Thanks!![]() Some questions I asked myself... 1.) I took a picture of the umbrella to get the rain drops in the top left corner, I wanted to capture more of the rain but could not, so I added that in, does it look too... fake? 2.) Do you think the dodgeing of the light towards the bridge is a bit much? I wanted to try and make it seem like sunlight was coming through onto the bridge. I'll take any thoughts, thanks! hmm, i didnt even notice any rain drops so I guess the answer to your first question is no.
There are two areas (is that the rain drops?) that I'm not sure what they are and feel they are a distraction. I'm not sure about the foreground grass. Might be a tad bit too much for my taste anyway. And the closet end of the bridge is just a tiny bit too close to the edge of the frame. I do like the lighting a lot! All in all its a cool photo!

I vote to take the rain drops out. They don't look like they are falling; too round. And one is really big.
I like the grass in the front. I like the light to dark to light. On the other hand, if all the foliage were darker, the the bridge might stand out more. The lighting of the bridge does look very natural. PS. Why don't you use a rainy day to capture pictures of rain drops. Might be some pretty strange pictures, but you would get a nice catalog of natural rain. Use different settings on the camera. Get them falling, dripping, making puddles, getting caught in flowers. Sounds fun. Now I want to do it, except I will have to wait until August when the monsoon starts. |

Hey!
Thanks for the responses, i'm in agreement that the rain drops should come out. They just don't look good. However, it WAS a rainy da Pam, but I could not get the rain to really show up on camera, it could be that I was under the tree's, and it was a lighter rain. But that's a question of mine, if the shutter speed was faster, would that make it easier to catch the rain dropping??? -R.J.- |

may be go another way - to make shutter speed much longer (near 1s) and use tripod.
