Default Life and Death

JMR_7074

Took this photo in a cemetary in Savannah, GA. My problem is, why are only two of the flowers in focus? I am shooting with a Nikon D300 and I think I have my settings incorrect. Do you feel all the flowers should be in focus? Does the background fade/blur too much? I would like an EASY to read manual on my Nikon, but I can't seem to find one. They are all too technical .

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 70 mm
Focal Length: 71.3 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: +8/3 EV
Flash: No Flash

The first thing that hits your eye in this shot is the blotch of white sky. It is very distracting.

Perhaps I should have cropped it to allow for less sky?

I really like the picture, but the background sky does take away from the image. it is a little difficult to see that it is a tombstone in the background, because of the washed out sky. however, i would not be concerned about the flowers not all being in focus, it still looks really good. if you wanted to get more of them in focus, try using a smaller aperture. Great job tho!

I didn't even know it was a tombstone.

I would reposition that shot. It's hard to get what you're going after with that white sky. That's my opinion. Also, good idea to increase DOF so the tombstone isn't as abstract.
