Default Tombs of Sunnyside

Tombs of Sunnyside

I am trying to invoke a certain feeling with this photograph. How does it affect you, and what could I do to improve it?
Thanks for your criticisms.

This feels very abstract to me. The black space at the top right of really brings the whole scene into another realm, like we're floating on an island in a void. The right angles and repetition give the shot an almost Escher like tessellation.

It's very beautiful and ethereal. If you were going for a deeper emotion having to do with graves, then I'm not sure I got that. I didn't even know these were tombs until I read your title.

Hope this helped. TFS.

Andrew hit this spot on. My very words I should say... Abstract pic, but no hint of "graves" without the title. The underexposed look adds a little bit of melancholy as well.
Maybe you could tell us what feeling you were trying to invoke...

I have to agree, with the previous posts.

Two additions.
A) Not sure what all the black is in the top right, but it looks PP not done smoothly. I feel my eye being drawn to it and away from the subject.
B) I think I would have attempted to step back a little and get the face of the next row. Each of the rows have an interesting character about them, with the bricks and plaster. Possibly bringing that into the main focus could have helped.

But as said before, I wouldnt know these were tombs without the title.

This photograph was taken at the internment of the ashes of a very good friend. I too was very surprised at the arrangement of the tombs in the cemetry which was on the side of a hill. I was feeling very sad, but the symetrical pattern of the graves made me compelled to take this photograph.
Thank you all for your comments.
