Question Drama in the Sky

I took this on my apartment terrace on an overcast evening last weekend. I have edited it lightly in Picasa 3. I'd like to know if the silhoutte of the dish antenna fixed to the parapet and the blue/orange contrasting colours of the sky work as a composition. Thanks.

Hi sunwrites,

Well done! I think that this does work. For me, the most interesting thing is the complimentary colors of the sky. It is a wonderful blue and gold gradation. Nice! I think that the silhoutte adds context to the image and gives the viewer something to look at. Without the silhoutte, I think the image would be a little boring.

Well done!

KG

Hi KG,

Thanks a ton for your well-articulated feedback. I feel very encouraged to continue looking for such composition opportunities in mundane places like this one.

Is there a chance you could have taken several shots and stitched them together? This would have made a great panorama.

Hello LeeR,

Yes, my camera does support scene stitching although it didn't occur to me to use it at that time. Now that I see what you've done with the pic, I wish I'd done something similar too. Your version certainly looks way more dramatic than mine. Thanks a ton for your invaulable suggestion.

Hi Christ,

Thanks. I've done a bit of post-production on it but not much. The sky indeed looked great that evening.
