Hi there!!! i am renee. This is my very first post to this site.. i was given a link to this site by a friend who thought it would help learning the different aspects of photography. I have been reading a bit when I can ( i am a BUSY mommy to 4 kids
and I am thrilled to have found such an informative site with wonderful helpful members!! I guess the only way to get the most from this is to actually participate in these forums Be honest about the photos, I am wanting to LEARN! Currently, I use a canon powershot A590 camera. If I can get a handle on the technical things about photos, I am looking to UPGRADE very soon!I took this basic photo a few weeks ago. I thought the angle was interesting, now I am wondering if the angle of the building is distracting, since its not vertical? I really liked the retro feel of the photo. I use minimal ( if any ) post adjustments. All honest feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
Camera: Canon Model: Canon PowerShot A590 IS ISO: 80 Exposure: 1/125 sec Aperture: 4.0 Focal Length: 5.8mm Flash Used: No i hope this posted correctly! |

I am not a professional by any means, but I like the angle. The subject, car, is straight and that is where I focused. The building adds to the aged look. So, I like it. I like the use of B&W as well. Thanks for sharing. I am sure others that know more then I will chime in.

Hi Renee,
Welcome to DPS. I too am a learner like you so you can take my feedback with a pinch of salt. I find the angle of the building interesting. Combined with the battered car in the foreground it gives an old western type of feel to the picture. The one thing I'd change (if I could) would be the completely empty top 1/3rd. Maybe the same picture on a cloudy day would have looked even more dramatic and fuller. Happy clicking. :-) |

I find the angle very odd. The building looks to be sinking into the ground on the right while the front of the car looks to be rising. I also keep wanting to walk up to higher ground to view this scene. I do like the B&W although it feels over processed or maybe over exposed, and I also like the old car and building. I'm hoping you have access to this site and will try some more perspectives to see how a different angle might look.

Thanks so much for the responses!
I took the advice on feeling it maybe was a little over exposed? I re-edited the photo.. i of course cant change the angle ( the car IS positioned in front of the garage at an odd angle, so it does look a little off ) is this one processed a little better? that day was So clear, i agree that the top looks empty.I added a slight gradient color so it isnt as washed out in black and white ![]()
