A few little things can add so much more to an image such as this.
Basic rule - verticals MUST be verticals. When in doubt, refer to the horizontals, which MUST be horitzontal (this is the road in this picture), a 1 degree CCW rotation, then followed by a little additional Oomph with some curves and tonal correction (see attachment). You shot this from a standing position. In future, consider experimenting with other angles (lie down on the ground to get low, or climb a tree, use your car, or a ladder to get up higher). Simple variances to perspectives do all sorts of wonders! Consider reading my tutorial on Aperture and Shutterspeed to get an understanding of how the inter-related. Goodness, that really made it pop out, didn't it? I like your revised copy a lot better, but it looks a lot like a cartoon the way the colors look kindly "bazaar". Is that just my computer or is that what you want when you reformat?

I've thrown in some tonal adjustment curves to give the ethereal look, and cleaned up some noise using a noise removal program. My intention was to go for the surreal look (if you check out some of my photography, I dig the High Dynamic Range style of photography - simply because you get to see and experience the full range of colours).
