Stairway in Heaven

I have to submit a photo with the theme of stairs. I shot this last year when i was in Israel and this shot is on Masada. I used to really love this shot but now i am not sure it is good enough. If i was to shot this scene again how could i improve on this shot.

I have issues with how the shot was composed. It gives me this feeling that this image is more of a snapshot. Just my two cents.

You should be thinking about symmetry, framing, leading lines, texture, exposure, contrast and color.

I am back there in a month and i will try this shot again and resend it. i think the location has great possibilties. Thanks for the feedback.
