Default Shop fading away

Canon EOS 400D, Canon EFS 10-22mm. 1/60, f4.5, ISO100

Shot taken during a weekend at my friends place in Tonnerre, France. A complete block in the city center is more or less abandoned.

What I wanted to illustrate is the life of a small business fading away. What I'm looking for here is if you think color-saturation is enough, framing, etc, etc....the more you can give me, the better. My first contribution of many I hope.

It is very nice. But maybe a little bit less saturation would illustrate the sadness a little bit more...

Hi ewiedenhoff,

Wow! This is a lovely image and quite thought provoking. I think that you've done a great job.

I agree with hifigraz, I think that less saturation would better communicate that the business is fading away. In my mind saturation indicates vitality and exuberance. Also, I wonder if the image would be stronger if the store was a smaller part of the image. In other words, I wonder if showing the store's relationship with the rest of the street wouldn't communicate how small and insignificant it is.

In either case, this is a very striking image. Well done.

Apart from less saturation, maybe the photo will appear more interesting if there is a person sitting at the door steps. Just my two cents.

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately this is the original size, but i'll think about this in the future.

Thanks Eric,
Unfortunately this street/block was so abandoned that now by-passers were even near ! But indeed, good idea !

Yes, less saturation and shoot wider to give an idea of thew hole street fading away. This is a nice photo but doesn't illustrate a whole area fading away, just one store.
