Default Vermont Trip

Went to Vermont last week for a little R&R. Unfortunately, it rained every day except this day. Got to shoot a little...

A nice shot, but it lacks any real point of interest. Maybe if you could have filled the frame a bit more with the peak in the distance. Also, the sky looks a little overexposed, could be fixed in PP.

I agree with junglebear. However you can still improve it by doing some cropping the following way, which gives the peak some more dominance. Exposure still needs to be corrected.

Thanks again. When I shot the photo I was focusing on the fence and tracks on the ground with a nice mountain in the background. After you all mentioned this, it's obvious the peak in the background is what draws your attention.

I've cropped the photo and worked on the sky a bit. How's this?

Mountain shadows look a bit too blue IMHO. Try desaturating it a bit, but retaining the contrast.

Trying to do this, which I can, however, when I desaturate, I lose the blue sky and the nice green grass. Trying to figure out a way to do this in Lightroom.

Lightroom is not the best option, but you can achieve this using the brush tool, and changing the "saturation" slider, then painting carefully on the mountain area.

Photoshop would be an easier option, selecting the exact area and using an adjustment layer to change the saturation.

PS: yes, the blue of the sky looks nice

I was afraid of that. I can never figure out how to do something like this without it looking like someone cut and pasted the area I adjusted. I really need to learn how to use layers better...
