Default New Photographer (Sort of haha)

Hey everyone!

I've been into photography for awhile, but am really ready to take it to another level. I took this shot in Rocky Mountain National Park, I love how it looked like the cloud was splitting right in 2.

Please tell me what you think, and I welcome ANY and ALL tips, advice, etc.

Thanks!

Hello

I'm pretty inexpert in all of this but to me there's too much foreground (which is virtually black). The sky also seems uninspiring...

There's an interesting contrast with the "Silhouette sunset" thread that ran on this forum a few days ago (it's now on the second page of the Landscape/Cityscape Critique section). Unfortunately the originator has edited their original post to chop most of the black foreground off; their initial posting, like yours, had a very heavy, dark bottom third if I recall correctly, and it looks much better cropped.

Hope this helps

While the sky retains some sort of interest (the cloud splitting in two), I must agree with Surprised and say that the foreground mostly lacks interest. Cropping a little bit could improve it. I like the hill crest and tree silhouette most.

Regards
