Default First attempt at nightscape

This is my first attempt at a nightscape. Picture is of Oklahoma City as viewed over the Oklahoma River. When taking pictures like this at night are blown highlights just a fact of life or is there something that can be done to minimize them? Thanks in advance for your critique and any help that can be given.

I like this shot alot, haven't done alot of nite shoots myself as I'm prettynew to photography. I just seen that this shot is from oaklahoma city and I'm going to be moving there soon from michigan and it's nice to see the skyline.

i think it's a great shot, and at this resolution, your highlights don't look bad at all.

Thanks everyone for the comments, it is much appreciated.

I did try some with the twilight sky but the bridge was too prominent and there were some power lines visible. I also liked the look of the lights against the darker sky better.

Thanks again.

It's just a pity that there are those cables in middle... though I had to zoom in to notice them clearly. At this resolution they don't disturb that much, anyway.

it'd be nice in b&w also. don't be satisfied with just color, play around with b&w and see which is more dynamic in a sense of clarity.
