Default Snow scene - effective exposure?

Constable

Canon EOS50D

EF 28mm

A quiet rustic scene in Georgia, but is the exposure appropriate?

All comments welcome.

Cheers,

Gareth

The contrast looks good but the exposure is a bit too dark. Try bumping it up a bit. Be careful to adjust your contrast accordingly. I do like the composition.

Thanks navcom - it does seem as if I have a tendency to darken my images a little - I have my compensation set to -2/3). You also mention adjusting contrast accordingly - just as a guide, if I brighten the overall image I'm guessing I need to increase contrast?

Probably...but it will depend on how you brighten the image. Adjust the exposure and then play around with the contrast (or dark point) to maintain good contrast. Black and white images work best when there are good contrasts going.

Default an attempt at brightening

Constable 2

Hiya again,

I've had a go at brightening up the scene but only within flickr so nothing fancy. Is this better or have i now lost the contrast?

Cheers,

G

I think that looks better...maybe even just a slight bit more. The contrast looks pretty good.
