Default The Moon

I'm becoming a little obessed with my interest in photograhpy and took this picture last night at about 11pm, should have been in bed long before that. The light on the tree is from my security light on the side of the house and not sure yet if I like it or if it's too distracting.
I've been practicing/experimenting with my shutter and aperture and would appreciate any comments, suggestions and constructive criticism.
Thanks

First of all, don't apologize for having a point-and-shoot...that's how most of us started out! I don't see you as having an 'obsession'; you're just thinking about how to take better photos. Since photography is largely a trial-and-error process, we have to follow up that thinking with actual hands on experience.

The lighted tree here kind of creates an effect of two different subjects in the photograph. Am I supposed to be looking at the tree, or at the moon? I can't tell. I'm glad you're raising that question, though.

I like it. EOBeav has a good point, when you first look at the image, the focus is on the mooon; but then you see the tree to the right and since it has some lighting your eyes shift focus to the tree, then back to the moon.

You're right, I do find myself coming back to the tree. Well, easily fixed w/software. Eventually though I would like to know the art of photography, lighting, composition, etc.... and not rely on software so much.
Thanks again
