Default Statue of Liberty shot

Taken at the base of the Statue. With my Pentax ist DS and 80-320 lens. A couple of specific questions:

1) Should I have included the entire crown in the shot?
2) Should I take out the clouds? Can't really decide if they are distracting or not.

Any other critique is welcomed. Thanks

Just to address your specific questions:

1) I think it is appropriate (to me personally even preferable) to cut a little of the edges in extreme close ups. In my opinion this is a better shot than if you included the whole corwn.
2) I don’t have an opinion either way about the cloud. Maybe if they were not too bright they will be less of a distraction but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Maybe lower the highlights (within a small range) a little bit and see if it is better.
I like it.

The clouds aren't necessarily distracting, but they are blown out and don't look like they belong. I would either fix it by removing them, or by replacing them with more more interesting looking clouds. I don't know what your experience is with editing photos, but it's more easy than you might think in either photoshop or gimp.

Composition is fine. Clouds are blown as others have said. Other than that, I like it.
