Default Home on the lake....

Hi all, this pic shows how you can live on the lake, taken in Finger lakes, N.Y.
I used Canon Rebel G traditional & Kodak film Ultra 400, therefore there is no EXIF to share.

Can you please critic composition?

Thanks Art

This is rather limited as compositions go. You have a bit of repitition going for you and you have some bright colors. What I don't see are the other things that make up a composition. Things like, balance, eye-movement, juxtaposition of elements, mood, lighting, etc. It's pretty much a straight on shot. A better question might be, "does this qualify as a composition or is it just a snapshot?" It's a fine line, and you're right on it. Now this is not to be disparaging. I have looked at your website and I know that you have other images that certainly qualify as 'compositions.' But if I were you, I'd leave this one out.

Lee, I appreciate your comments, it is quite difficult which can qualify and which can not, since I am not a pro-photographer I can not say this goes out and this goes in
Thanks Art

Art, I disagree with Lee a bit. You are very close to having some really nice leading lines with the houses. I don't think the angle is right, but if you could re shoot at a different angle where the houses lead more diagonally across your frame it would make a world of difference. I really like the colors!

Here's how I visualize your capture (for illustration purposes) with cropping, skew and basic pp.
