Photo Walk on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I am very new to photography. This is something I want to take seriously. I have been ding photo walks every day and I post the pictures on my blog. I want to know if this picture is worth to take a look at a second time. I want to take pictures that mesmerize the viewers and me of course!

Thank you!
Priya

First, welcome to DPS!

Second -- I like that photo a lot. It's a great use of the lines in the walkway. It's very geometric. So, it's definitely worth taking a second look at.

Critique-wise, the very first thing I notice is your huge watermark. PLEASE remove it... it's just distracting from an otherwise good photo. I almost made a snarky comment about "wow, someone chalked your name right on the path!" but decided to avoid it (until now ).

Also, there is a lot of interesting stuff in the photo -- but most of it is on the sides (the "walls" or railings), while those same lines draw me into the photo in a different direction. You might consider emphasizing the great textures of the walls by composing more with them in mind. While I like the symmetry, this might just be a time to break the symmetry and look at the walls instead.

So, keep it up, and keep posting!

Obviously you are playing with symmetry and leading lines here. However, you didn't straighten the photo and it is out of balance.

I like to have the background brighter to lead the viewer eyes to it as well. Just my two cents.

I was going to suggest that it needs to be lighter/brighter. With your watermark, I'd shift it to the bottom right-hand corner so it doesn't take away from the photo. It doesn't have to be in-your-face, as long as it's there to help identify you as the owner of the photo. I have a light watermark on all my photos, after having experimented with lots of positions, fonts and sizes.
