Default George Washington Bridge

Went at sunset to take some pics of the bridge--I love bridges. Anyway, this is one I rather liked and I played with some crazy settings in Lightroom. Was thinking of going a little more yellow on the bridge but, other than that I kinda like it. Please feel free to c&c this. You can be tough, I can take it. I'm just trying to improve as a photographer and with my pp. I can always post the shot with, "normal," settings if you'd like, too.

18mm
ISO 100

Looks a little dark overall. It might be nice to straighten up that tower with a little distortion correction.

Was looking for it to be a little dark but I think you're right. Maybe I'll bump the exposure a little.

Yes, the darn EFS 18-200mm. Distortion-city at 18mm. I understand it can be corrected with the Canon software but haven't tried it yet. I guess I have an excuse to learn how now....

Here's a corrected version. However, I'm not sure it did anything with the pincusioning. I used the Canon software, it did look better there and I saved it but I'm not seeing a difference.

The second version looks a lot better than the first one. However, yes, the vertical lines in the tower still look a bit tilted/distorted.

Cheers!

Darn. Anyone know how to make the corrections stick in the Canon software? I went in, corrected it--you could see it corrected it on the screen--then saved it. The only thing I can think of is the Canon software is working on the RAW file and I edited it for this version (obviously). Although I figured I'd still be ok as the edits are just meta data attached to the RAW file, correct?

Did you re export the jpg or tiff after working with the raw file. Or did you open the raw file into PS etc.

If its the latter PS won't show the improvments as its "develops" the raw file itself. Better option is in the cannon software export it as a 16bit tiff. (warning large file size) which you can open in PS.

Does that makes sense?

Wes

I know what you mean but I never exported it. Always worked on it as a RAW file. That's why I'm confused.

I don't mind at all. Just don't know how to go about doing it in PS.

Thanks.
