Default Under the bridge shot

Hi folks, first time out with my first dslr. Been following the forums for a bit and wanted to share and get some thoughts. How are the colors? I liked the contrast between the gritty dirty top of the bridge and the kids paintings on the pillars. Any thoughts on the composition? Thanks in advance and great to be here!

Date Taken: 2009-03-16 20:33:57
Camera: PENTAX K-x
Exposure Time: 15s (15/1)
Aperture: f/14
ISO: 100
Focal Length: 24.38mm (36mm in 35mm)

Did minor color correction in lightroom.

The photo is good but doesn't have any artist quality that I can see. Does show the quality of the camera you are using. I would not frame it.

I agree with the comment above. It lacks the visual appeal. It's just the trail of lights that added interest in this capture. Perhaps if you shot this in a different view, it would have made this photo catchy. Just my two cents.

Cheers!

Thanks for the input. I'll admit I was a bit limited not having a decent tripod with me. Just wondering what you all meant by different view? Do you mean moving the shot, or a different camera/lens setting?

I would recommend a different view too. What I would look for is a focal point, something that is the main attraction. Also try to have the horizon straight so that everything doesn't look like it is leaning.

The car light steaks are great, but I didn't see them till I read about them.
Just my thoughts.

Happy shooting!!
