i'd love to know if there is a way i can straighten the edges in this photograph. they seem to rounded off.

It also helps a great deal if you can post your exif information. Knowing your camera settings can play a huge part in offering you critique

I used Microsoft Image Composite Editor Version 1.2 Release One

Equipment Canon 450D Lens 18-55 F3.5~5.6 IS
Focal Length 18 for all Images
Aperture Number F11 for all images
ISO 100 for all images
EV -0.3Step

I have no experience with that software, and to be honest I can't quite see what you mean with "the edges are rounded off". What I do know is that Hugin (Open Source, so completely free and good for your karma) produces excellent panorama photos.
