Default Liverpool Dock

P1000221_0102

Sailing Boat moored at The Albert Dock in Liverpool
Taken in quite a shady corner..(The light never made it round in the time I had) As a novice, what do I need to do to brighten shots like these while keeping the depth of field? Lumix DMC FZ38
f/stop 3/80
ISO 320
Exposure time 1/125 sec
Shutter speed 1/125 sec
Thanks

Your camera has exposed for the background. In camera if you get the correct exposure for the subject the background will become hot (over exposed).

The best answer is a touch of fill flash....

I agree with the suggestion of using fill flash which can definitely help illuminate the subject in your shot while maintaining the background.

Cheers!
