Default Beirut by Night

Beirut by Night

I took this shot at twilight after sunset. I was lucky enough to have the moon in a perfect position.

Camera: Nikon D5000
Shutter Speed: 4s
Aperture: f/4.2
Focal Length 65mm

How do you like my composition? Exposure? Colors?

Thanks

Warning: I have just started clicking pics with sx200is and by no way am even close to being an amateur.

Composition is "great". Exposure, I feel the city area on the left is kind of over exposed. The lights are all mixing with each other and there is no clarity there because of that. Would have been even better if it was possible to get more clarity there.

Perhaps a little less area above the moon. Love the tone, although I agree that the city lights are a little indistinct.,,,But hey...What do I know?

Nice pic!

I would definitely cut out some of that sky and try to get the moon on the rule of thirds. Think it would provide for a much more interesting shot!

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

I would have gone with the rule of thirds and cut out a bit of the sky but since I just barely cut off the shore (you can see the curve of a building on the bottom left) I couldn't tilt my camera downwards, my only option would have been to zoom in and take out even more of Beirut. I decided that I also liked the way the sky was a gradient of colors from orange to purple. So I kept the framing the way it is.

Thanks H.S.
