Default Reno Elevator

Hello, this is a first-time post. I'm working on a series of local photography, and they all have similar composition in different settings. I'm wondering: is this photo "interesting"? If this were hanging on a wall, would you take a closer look? Also, I suppose, the quality overall.

Default Nice subject :)

This has the making of a very nice 'wall shot'
Colours are good (please dont try to oversaturate them) and work well.

There are a few things I would tweek, and you would need to go back and reshoot to do all of them im afraid.

1) get yourself dead on centre with the lift, at the moment you are slightly to the right in your shooting position, and this really shows. When symmetry is so close to being there, but just slightly out, it can give an uneasy feeling, which I dont think you are looking for here.

2) Crop your photo to give you a 3x3 grid with the coloured windows (like a rubics cube)

3) Clone out the top of the tree you can see at the bottom left

4) Gently burn out the building at either side of the centre 4 pillar structure, to make the centre "pop" out at you more and divert your attention away from the edges.

I would steer clear of changing the perspective to make the pillars parallel though, as the effect of the pillars at the moment makes the lift feel like its accelerating up and away from you, which I really like.

One little idea would be to see what the building looks like at night, as if the windows are lit it may radically change things for better or worse. You could also use a long exposure to show the movement of the lift which might be interesting..........

Overall very promising, just needs a few tweeks before it would go up on my wall

Well done and welcome to the forum

James

Hi, I think the colors could pop out a little more if the pic had longer exposure, it seems a little "gray" to me... also if you burn the edges like doctorjames says =)

Overall I think it has potential, just a bit of postprocessing and you can make it perfect!
