Default climbing the pyramid....

Kukul-kan pyramid, the most exiting architecture in Chichen-itza zone

you can see dimension with these to ladies climbing, captured in the middle of it

It was taken with traditional SLR canon Rebel G and Kodak film 200, so there is no EXIF to share

Can you critic composition?

Thanks Art

Hey Art,
A very nice capture of the two ladies climbing,as you said good size perspective. The photo is well balanced, it does very good as a photo of the pyramid. Colors are very nice and the lighting is good, no blown out sky or anything. Not sure if this is what you are looking for in cc, but as to the composition itself, this is the most common views, straight on. Perhaps from the corners or across would be a bit more creative.

I think there is sometimes when the rule of thirds should be broken, and this is a perfect example of it: the Kukulcán pyramid should be in the center of the image in order to show its greatness.

I would only suggest to capture the complete pyramid, I personally do not like the borders croped out of the composition. And also a little bit of negative space in the top of the image would be nice.

Good shot though!

Hi
I like the pyramid. But I don't think the composition holds up. I agree with dodgeinart, moving away from the straight on shot, would work better. But then you wouldn't have the pyramid straight in the middle, and if you did it properly wouldn't work. What I would do, if you want it in the middle, is that I would move way back, so you have like half a pyramid size on each side, or even more. Then it wouldn't be so symetrical. other than that I would personnaly go for a cinimascope kind of crop.
You get what I'm trying to say??

Regards,
Anders

Hi, what a great place to be to have the opportunities for great shots )

IMO, I agree that it would work better without the sides cropped and with more sky above, so we see the whole pyramid and get a sense of space.

One question though: have you manipulated this at all? the lines where the pyramid meets sky or grass just don't quite look right to me.

offwhitedog, yes I did manipulation because of the tourist around it, I had to delete it to leave just these two. Because of the 75-300 I could not capture the entire pyramid
Thanks
