Default Night time problems!

Can you guys please off suggestions!! I am a beginner, and this shot is driving me crazy! I'm trying to capture the light red glow that the street lamps cast over the snow in my front yard. I've tried stopping down the aperture, decreasing the ISO, turning off the inner flash, decreasing the exposure. I have about 40 frustrating shots that look very similar to the one below. I would love any and all suggestions!! Thanks!

Man, that's gonna be interesting. So let me get this right. You want the snow, which in normal light would be white, to appear the color it does to your eyes. A reddish glow?
Have you tried setting the white balance with a card and fixing it there? (No Auto White Balance) Then you may have a chance at the white snow appearing reddish, since that is the color your eyes are detecting...

I agree with Doctor Atomo that the problem most likely lies with your white balance, in that your camera will be trying to correct the colour cast that the lights display on the snow.

What camera are you using?... and can you shoot in camera raw?? (often allows more post production 'tinkering' with white balance)

Thank you both! I'm using a Nikon D5000. I will try your suggestions the next chance I get. Thanks again!

Similar suggestion, try setting the white balance on the camera to either tungsten or fluorescent, depending on the type street light.

Be sure and post your next attempts here!
