This is a photo I took after our record snowfall last week. I converted to black and white then added an artistic filter. Wanted to see what everyone thought as this is a leap of faith and not something I normally do.
Canon 50D, 24-70, 1/640, F\8, ISO 200.

Personally i am not crazy about the treatment, the shot looks great and composition too but the treatment looks more like a painting than a picture.

Thanks Martin. That is what I wanted to know. Was just playing around in PSE7 and decided to give it a try.

You call that record snow?? I'll give you record snow! Our record snow for one day is about 40 inches (northern MN). Of course, even that is not in line with some of our mountain friends. You Texans talk about everything being big down there. We got you beat on something.
![]() Ahhh...but I digress. I agree with barabe...bit over-processed. The composition looks great but it looks more like a painting. Not that this is bad if that is what you are shooting for. But it's left the realm of "purist" photography...whatever that might be.

I think it depends on how you are planning to use this image. If you are going to use it as part of an illustration for a printed peice, then this is perfect and set up ideally for the printing process. However, it falls far short of the "frame it and hang it in the Louvre" category.

Thanks Lee and others for you honest opinions. It was something I was playing around with in PSE 7 to see how I liked it and wanted some other opinions. This was the first time I had tried anything like this.
