I really like the fact that you were out and about in those conditions capturing the snow as it fell. You ended up with white snow too, which is bonus, there are a lot of blue snow pictures around and about. I think I would try to Rule of thirds for the central tree, your horizon, is already making use of the lower rule of thirds which is cool. Landscapes also have good depth of field, with a foreground object, middle ground object and background point of interest. You have the feature tree in the middle ground, a forest in the background, and branches in the foreground. The branches, however cut across the feature tree, which does show depth, but it also interrupts the beauty of the feature tree. The tree on the left could point in to the feature tree, and the flow of branches into the feature tree, and its branches on the left leading out of the feature tree would have completed a nice "s" shape for the eyes to follow. Overall a definitely nice winter shot.
Did you have a camera cover, or use a large ziplock bag to keep the moisture out of your camera? |

Being here in Northern Ohio as well, I know that was a tough shot to get... so... kudos to you!
Composition could have used some work though.... and I agree... you need to cover that... I speak from experience as Nikon has my camera right now removing moisture spots from my sensor as we speak
