Default The Fullerton Hotel

Hi again all, here is a photo of The Fullerton Hotel. Hmm, I wonder..is it too dark? what do you think?



Camera: Canon EOS 450D
Exposure: 0.05 sec (1/20)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 17 mm
ISO Speed: 800

I think it's a great shot - the lights on the building, the black sky, the perspective of the building...

Perhaps foreground (at street level) could be a little lighter, but not too much - I'd say do this in post-processing rather than increase the exposure of the whole shot.

ISO 800... what's the noise level like? can't see on this small size, but when you look at it up close that could be the thing that needs most attention in this shot

I like it.
I think that its a nice shot for how dark the sky is.
Maybe trying to get there a little earlier for a different color sky

I find it very striking. I like the shot. I agree though that in thsi size it does work, but as you enlarge it you might start picking up more noise, shotting at 800. If you get there a little earlier in teh evening, I think you would get the same results you are looking for and can darken the sky (if you want) in post.

The contrast of the hotel's lights against the black sky looks great. I agree however that the foreground looks dark. Nice long angle shot, overall.

offwhitedog, Thanks for your input, you can see a larger version of this photo here Flickr Photo Download: fullerton_03 and yes..with ISO 800, a bit noisy effect appear in the photo..but I think its still in an acceptable level.

SuperDan, Thanks for your suggestion..I think you're right..should come earlier to get the blue sky color..
