Default Down at the dock

this was a black and white conversion of a shot taken last Sunday at Albert Dock in Liverpool. I also cropped in from the original and used a small amount of dodge and burn. I would like some feedback on composition and whether it works in B&W

It's hard to tell whether it works in black and white without seeing it in color. I assume the reason for putting it in B&W would be because the photo doesn't have the vivid almost dreamlike colors that are usually very well liked in this sort of image. But yes this photo does look very nice in black and white. The main problem that I can see is that the composition seems unbalanced. Perhaps you could lower the shooting angle so that the image with the water line and the horizon better follows the rule of thirds.

Nice composition. Normally, bnw for landscapes scenes is a bit hard without any shadows, as it makes the pic looks flat.. Anyway, IMHO, for this particular pic, the bnw conversion lacks the full tonal range. I played with the curves and levels.

I'LL REMOVE this pic if you disaprove me adjusting it..

I can't see any issues in this photo aside from the b/w tones which indeed make it appear soft. Other than that this image looks good.

Cheers!
