Default White Picket Fence

This is the American dream, a white picket fence around the house. I don't like the color of this shot. Looks kinda bluish to me in the shadow areas and more orange in the rest of the shot. I wasn't able to adjust it any better though.

Any critique on how I could have taken the shot differently to improve the color?

Any critique on how to post process the color better?

Clearly the fence is your image's subject; therefore I wish the closest portion of the fence wasn't cut off at the bottom. I think that would help with how the image looks.

Hadn't thought about that. Thanks!

I had a lot of blue in my photos when my exposure/ aperture was off. Maybe try larger aperture/ longer exposure and compensate with the white balance. Now I usually take a quick snap on full auto to see what settings my camera wants to use, then go into Manual and make adjustments from there. Usually underexpose by a couple notches, white balance, and Print!
This trick is actually one of the most useful things I have learned about my camera. I used to waste a lot of time trying to come up with settings from scratch, and sometimes I just could not figure out why everything was blue, for instance! Ruined a lot of otherwise nice shots...
I think leviathan is right about not cutting off your subject!
Thanks for sharing!
