Smile Natural Skeleton Leaf

IMG_0334

Camera: Canon 450D
Aperture: F/5
Exposure: 1/30 sec
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 41mm
Flash: Off
Aperture Priority Mode

Took this in the morning at a park. I had to get pretty low with the help of a mini-tripod to take this picture. The skeleton leaf is lying in the middle of a path leading to some greenery, which you can see at the top of the picture. Personally, I like the contrast between the dull leaf and the greenery.

Do you notice the smudge near the top left corner of the picture? I couldn't figure out what is that. Please kindly comment on the composition and lighting and any other thing. What would you have done it differently?

Thanks.

I think this is a beautiful shot with great bokeh! Very nice. I think you could leave everything as it is. The greenery in the background is beautiful. Perhaps you could have gotten a little lower to capture more of the greenery in the top third of the image. Excellent beautiful shot. Love it.

My eye is drawn to the bright area at the top of the frame. I might consider cropping it down a tad. imo

While this would probably be a more viable solution than to find the skeleton leaf again and try to fill the top of the frame with more color, the faint silhouette of trees in the top of the frame provides the leaf with a sense of perspective and context, which would be lost if the colored portion were cropped.

Before I submit this post, I did consider both options. I was afraid that the greenery may be abit distracting. But without it, the skeleton leaf just dont tell a story. So I guess the final picture is a compromise of both.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. Love DPS, learn so much from here.
