Nice shot, Alissa. Good composition....good contrast in the b/w. However, since it's in the critique section, I might have tried to get the tops of ALL the boats in the shot, either by backing up a bit, or at least not cutting them off of the top, and just let them fade away to the left. Otherwise, nice shot.

I think you have a lot of great things going with this shot. With the B&W you have done a nice job with exposure, contrast, and capturing the tones and texture of the boats and the beach. Compositionally, I want to see less beach at the bottom of the image. I would also love to see all of the masts for all of the boats. The top of the masts for the boats on the left are cut off. Perhaps if it were a slightly wider angle you could capture all that. Great shot!

Thanks all. You're right, I did chop off the tops of the boats. That's one of the things I need to work on, as I didn't realize it until I got home.
