GREAT color and expression in the sky and water! Very impressionist. To exaggerate that effect, you could maintain focus on the foreground and open your aperture more (smaller f-number).

Another option would be to use a much slower shutter speed and slower ISO. Obviously a tripod would come into play. What that might do it smooth out the water ripples into a more ethereal glow.

One other thing to note, if it snows again: see if you can get one, single track of footprints towards the water. Then make those the leading line of the image, but still capture the rest of the scene you have above. Sort of a play on the walk-into-water-rebirth theme.

Keep posting up here! If this is what you see in life, then you need to keep sharing it.

Beautiful, I love the mist rising off the water. AlexGac is right, fresh snow might have been nice, but for a found shot this is superb!
I may have tried one with just a few pixels less ground and more sky? Trying to come up with something for you, lol!
Or soften the focus in the foreground and sharpen it in the distance? That is where the interest is for me, and I find myself squinting, trying to make out the trees and mist!
A beautiful shot, which makes me wish I was there to unravel the mystery!
Do you have a photo stream somewhere?
