Exclamation First Post!! Very Excited!

Hello,

Just got my first DSLR for Christmas and this site has been extremely helpful! Please feel free to criticize this picture of State College, PA as much as you want. I have definitly found it difficult to take night shots and i would love to learn how to take them better/more creative!

Welcome and very nice first post! As you have already determined, night shots are difficult (it's dark for one thing!) This is a nice capture. I think it would be a bit stronger of an image it you cropped it a bit tighter. In particular the lamp post on the right probably takes away more than it adds to the composition. Looking forward to seeing more of your images.
