Default Lonely Bench B&W

Lonely Bench

"Mono" work is something I really enjoy and would like to improve on it. In this case, I chose to place the bench off-center a bit. Does it work?

Yes, the bench being off center does work. It gives the feeling if you sat on the bench there might be a nice view. The view behind the bench however, is not very inviting and gives no hint that right there would be a nice place to sit and rest awhile. After wondering what the view might be like, the photo doesn't really hold my attention. If there is a view, a shot from behind the bench might work better.

For a monochromatic, I think it may need more contrast. Except for the bench legs, the shades are pretty much light and medium.

Default Context and Message

Hello:
Thanks for sharing your work, I think through this critic we all benefit each other learning process.
To start, I think contrast is fine, there is no clipping, looks well exposed. On the other hand, it lacks of some information to give context to the bench and therefore settle the message.
So, everything depends on what you want to say, I mean, is it about, peacefulness, lonelyness?, does it invite to rest, think, meditate, etc.?
I would try to give more deep of field, and change a little bit the angle of view, but not too much, I think the bench is fine in this angle, but including some background or foreground would help to give some context
Hope we both keep learning...

I agree with DocJG, and freezeframe03.
I think that a more focused background and a tiny bit more foreground interest may give a more interesting look.
I also think that maxing the contrast out till the whites are blown out and it looks like a black and white drawing might be nice!
