Default Old Well Pump

This is one of my very first shots taken with my DSLR. After having sat out most of the digital revolution, I am still getting the feel for everything, including the editing software and lingo. Woould be curious to hear some thoughts from others on here.

Isn't it a bit out of focus?And I think you should pick another point of view that does not include that pipe in the lower left and those branches...
Move to the right and shoot from a lower angle and open the aperture wider (f5.6 maybe?) to blur the background might give a more interesting result,well that's my opinion...

I don't understand the blur, it doesn't show on my file, but when I post the html it does. Maybe I'm not holding my tongue right. Thanks for the input.
