I think this one looks a bit overprocessed. The sky does not seem to fit with the rest of the picture. That being said i think it is a nicely composed picture.

Playing with photomatix and it appears to have a little learning curve..

Yes, this second one looks much better as far as processing goes. Still a bit of distracting blowout in your clouds. I like the golds at the bottom.

Thanks Sara.. Check out my latest post "Some very cold Winter shots" = the third one is from just East of the Ranger Station just North of Ketchum...

I agree, the second version of the photo is better as it looks more natural than the previous one.

Hmmm, I agree that the second is more natural looking, but I can't help still liking the first one personally! I like saturated colours and processing though, so that's probably just me! One thing I would say though, I'l try reducing the temperature just a touch (on the first I mean), as although the golds and reds are good, they're a little toooo saturated!

Great shot though- you've done well with the DoF! Nice and sharp all around
