I guess I'm the only one here using Kodaks, huh?
I know they're not the cream of the crop, but I'm a New Yorker, and I like to support the home state. I use a c340, but some day, when I have money, I'll take the next step up. If I were doing it right now, I'd go for a z7590. I know CNet wasn't very nice to either of them, but they're pretty harsh critics. Any of you guys use Kodaks? How are they for you? On second thought, they're probably not too popular around this crowd, since they don't make any real consumer SLRs. There are a few SLRs, but they're in the professional range, $5,000 and such. |

Spot on Saralonde! I have seen so many photos taken with old Polaroids or plastic lens cameras that were inspiring and incredibly wonderful. The two things I think are most important are:1. knowing the abilities of the camera you are using and exploiting those strengths artistically
2. Taking a fresh look at your subject, knowing it's strengths and exploiting those to the best of your ability. It's never about the camera.....it's about the photographer!

I am on my second Kodak. I am currently using the Z740 and I like it. The newer ones have more features and I will probably upgrade in another year or two to include image stabilization. Perhaps the P712 or something like it.

I recently purchased a P880...
I like the camera and am still getting used to it and all the buttons and dials (and the gazillions settings that this camera can be configured with). My previous cameras (an AGFA ePhoto 307 and a Samsung Digimax 230) were totally point and shoot and didnt require any thinking at all except for composing the shot. If I had a preference it would have been to get a DSLR but they are still a bit of a way off yet (around $1000AUD) so the P880 is pretty good value (just over $400AUD). Anyway, I guess that in a couple of years when I finally master this thing I will be ready to upgrade...

My first digital many years ago was a Kodak. A year and half ago I bought the DX7590. Great little camera. I upgraded in April to the P850. The P850 has been back to the shop twice now in 8 months for repair. I wish I had never wasted my money. I don't know anything but auto and don't know how to learn. The manual is useless. I am in agreement that it doesn't matter the camera but the one holding it. Just wish I could figure mine out.
