Got a Z8612 a few months ago. Can't shoot RAW, but I like the 10x optical zoom.
Major drawback: no optical viewfinder, and under certain light conditions, it's impossible to see what's on the screen.

I know CNet wasn't very nice to either of them, but they're pretty harsh critics.

Any of you guys use Kodaks? How are they for you?

On second thought, they're probably not too popular around this crowd, since they don't make any real consumer SLRs. There are a few SLRs, but they're in the professional range, $5,000 and such.
I'm using a Kodak easy-share C813.Mine is okay, but would love to have a photography camera.

Hello. A newbie here. But I currently have a Z760 & a V803. They're alright but neither do what I want them to. We attend at least 2 NASCAR races a year. Actually 4 because we go to both the Nationwide & Cup races on both weekends. And all of the races are night races. My Z760 takes better pictures than my V803 but my batteries drain so quickly that I use the V803 during the day & my Z760 at night.

I've also got a C513 with a busted screen & no viewfinder. I bought it that way off ebay for $1 thinking that I had a screen that I could replace it with. Turns out I don't. But it still takes video & pictures. You are just shooting blind & hoping for the best.

I am hoping to upgrade soon to something that takes better night shots with better zoom & that is better for action shots. Any suggestions?

I just pre ordered the Kodak easy share max, it sports a 30x optical zoom, the ability to manually control the aptrature or shutter speed or both and can manuaIly focus. as long as a 16 second shutter speed and up to 6400 ISO. I cant afford a DSLR right now, so I'm hoping this will be a whole lotta fun!
