![]() This is just one of the many, what I think, are very nice shots, that I took with my old Kodak P850. Its a great little camera that I passed down to my daughter.

I have been contemplating updating to a Z812is for some time now, but they have not been available where I live. I have now found an online retailer that sells both the Z812is and the Z1012is at great prices.
My question is to anyone who has either of these cameras, which one would you choose? I can't see much difference in them other than the megapizel capacity, am I wrong? |

Kodak user over here. Easyshare Z712IS. It's a pretty good point and shoot for the price, and I've enjoyed using it. I intend on upgrading to a Canon DSLR, but right now I'm pretty happy/thankful for what I have.

I have a kodak Z710, it is considered a bridge camera. It has some manual settings, 7.2 megapixels and 10x zoom. I like it, but I recently upgraded to a DSLR and honestly will only use this as a back-up from now on. You just can't beat the flexibility of an SLR. I read that kodak was even discontinuing their professional line, so unless they break into the prosumer market, all they will offer is point and shoot.

I just recently purchased the Z981. It takes some great pictures, and I love the 26X Zoom. It seems to be a good camera for me to learn on. I found this site after I bought the camera and am learning alot just reading and looking.
![]() I will say though, had I found this site before I bought it, I probably would have saved a little longer and bought an SLR. I am already seeing the limitations of a point and shoot. LOL. But like I said, it's a great camera to learn on, and I have a lot of learning to do, so it will be in my hands for quite a while before I upgrade. Oh yeah, the 14mp is great for cropping too! hehehe. JDPelfrey |

I will swear by my old Kodak digital cameras!!
I started out by getting a 3.1 Kodak C something or other in 2004. I was really unsure about what to do with digital at the time. It seemed like such a downgrade from my Canon Elan 7 SLR. I figured it would be a nice throw around camera for my pocket, and there weren't many buttons to overwhelm myself. Well, it produced nice colors and more! Then, I had to upgrade. I caught digital fever! I got a DX7630 in 2006, which was a 6.1mp. LOVED IT! I caught some amazing shots that I have yet to be able to reproduce. Crystal clear pictures... I still have it to this day. Then my next upgrade was because I wanted a better zoom for concerts. So I got a 12x zoom with my Z612 in 2007. This camera was amazing and blew away many of the other zoom digitals that I looked at during that time period! It was also my back up camera when I did not want to lug my D40X around that I got in December 2007. While on vacation, I had both cameras with me. My D40X dropped on the bathroom floor, rendering it unusable on my vacation! I was mortified!! I reluctantly used my Z612. In the end, I look back at the pictures, and realize that the pictures were of amazing quality! So in the end, Kodak rocks! I have since started using a Nikon P&S because my Z612 got wet last summer, but only because I started to really use my manual features and that camera had what I wanted! If anyone wants examples of the above, I can definitely share!
