I posted a similar question under the sony thread, but I thought i'd give here a try, since, now I am considering, yet another camera. so...which one would you recommend? I had the Kodak Z612 for a couple of weeks and loved the color in the photos. But, I did not like the lack of ability for close-up macros. Does anybody have any of these cameras? What is the color like with them? Does anybody have any comparison examples of macros between any of these brands? I just read the macro info on the Z712 and that's interesting. I didn't know you could buy other lenses for the Kodak.
thx!

Well, I think I've decided on the Sony H7. I nixed out the Olympus SP 550 because, although loaded with features, i read too many reviews saying it performed poorly. I decided on the Sony instead of teh Kodak because of the macros. Since I've never really gone beyond P&S anyway, I think I'll be happy enough.

I guess you made the right choice. In macro mode, the Kodak only gets you as close as 12cm.. i'm not sure about the sony but i bet you can get closer with it.
The good think about the kodak is that you get more value for your money.

i wonder why you didn't have the canon s3is/s5is in your list of choices? the macro on these, actually the super macro, can focus even at less than 1cm (considering that you have ample lighting)... anywho...
