Default Hullo....

Just thought I'd drop in and say hello. I just picked up a Z650 after using a Z740 for about 2 months. I picked up both cameras on eBay for a song. I liked the Z740 so much I thought I would upgrade to the Z650 because of the Z-K lens and 1 more megapixel plus the other added features. I must confess I always was of the opinion that Kodak equated to "cheap" or "chintzy" when it came to quality. I even was under the impression they use plastic lenses (dunno where I got that from). Anyways, I was already the owner of a Nikon 5MP and a really cheezy Polaroid but developed a yen for a super-zoom after my cousin showed my a shot he took with a Sony H9 (I think). Needless to say, I couldn't even come CLOSE to affording one of 'em and went shopping on eBay. I picked up the Z740 for $57 (shipping included) and was absolutely astounded at the quality of both the camera and the photos. I just got my Z650 a couple of days ago and actually... I MADE MONEY in the process! I sold the Z740 for $105 plus shipping. I paid $80 for Z650 so, I made out pretty good in the grand scheme of things. Both cameras were in mint shape and work perfectly. The Z650 even came with a 512 meg SD card. I'll use it for a backup, probably since I kept the 2G card I had with the Z740.

Anyways... I'm completely sold on Kodak and even dropped them an email telling them so.

Oh yeah... My Nikon and the Polaroid went up on eBay one week after the Z740 arrived and I picked up a little C653 for the wife for $50! Nice, eh?

I'm not new to digital photography but I am to prosumer camera usage so I'll be scanning the forums for tips and tricks.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm already enjoying it IMMENSELY. It is soooo easy to use and effortlessly takes pictures that take my breath away. As witness this:

This was taken through my front window with my Z740 at max zoom and no flash. I *DID*, however, have the common sense to use a tripod.

Wutcha think?

I have 2 Kodak's now, the C875 and the Z712. I also have a Canon 20D SLR. The Kodak picture quality is great and very underestimated in my opinion. I just used my Z712 for some waterfall shots in Ithaca, NY. Here are som unedited shots

Those are spectacular! I just sold my Z650 and picked up a Z612. As a little "back-up" camera I picked up a C653 for $25 on eBay. I can't believe no one bid against me for it! It's immaculate and works great. I can't wait to get my Z612 with the 12x zoom.
