Default Len attachments for Z812?

I've seen different lens attachments for the Z812, but I'm not sure how well they fit or even work with the camera. Has anyone ever tried any or heard anything about them?

Default eBAY Lens attachments for Z812

Hi Bee,

I also have the Z812 and now have a small selection of filters and a few lens. I started by getting an adapter tube that connects to the front of the camera and extends about 2inchs with 58mm threads on the filter end of it. All of the filters and lens I buy now must be 58mm to use on this tube. 58mm is really a bit on the small side since wide shots (ie: no zoom) will now look a bit like you're looking through a dark tube.
I would suggest the next size up at maybe 62mm to avoid this limitation. I found out later that 58mm is really for the Z712 or something. BTW, just a bit of zoom gets rid of this effect, but you will loose some of your wide angle.
Of course, 62mm lens will cost more that 58 mm, but probably not much.

I use the PL filter and the UV filter most and they seem to work great considering the low eBay cost. Where I did have trouble was with a set of Close-up lens. These are like a poor mans macro lens and let you get physically closer to your subject. The +1 or +2 is all I can really use. The +4 and +10 do get me very close, but the color distortion around the image is really bad and spoils most pictures. Only the the center 25% is useful, if that. I really only use the +1 now. But what did I expect at $20 for all 4 In hindsight, I should've just spent the whole $20 on a better +1 or +2.

All in all it was a lot of fun to use these and learn their effects and eBay was a really inexpensive way to go.

I just searched eBay for "Z812 tube" and found these 58mm & 62mm

Check out the pic of the 58MM tube and see how it really says Z612? Watch for that and go metal if you can. Wish I had gone 62mm....

Z812 adapter Tube w/PL and UV filter = $25
58mm Close-up lens +1, +2, +4 & +10 = $20
58mm Rubber lens hood = $10
I typically only use the tube, PL filter then rubber hood.

All the stuff connects very nice and solid and makes the Z812 look more impressive IMHO

Also watch out for tele-converter lens above 1.5x (like 2x and 3x) since the quality drops like a rock unless you invest some real money. Check out Canon or Nikon to see what a name brand lens costs to get an idea of what to pay.

You really do get what you pay for, so if you want the good stuff, just get a 62mm Z812 tube and then shop for Cannon or Nikon filters etc.

Hope this helps you get started and PLEASE critique my first image post since I'm desperate for feedback but not getting much.

Cheers,
